Welcome to Our New Patron
Thursday, 01 July 2010 00:00

We are proud to announce that Paul 'Tug' Hartley GM has graciously agreed to become our patron. Paul served as a Combat Medical Technician in Afghanistan and Lebanon.

Lance Corporal Hartley was seriously injured in a mine strike in Kajaki, Helmand Province in 2006, when he entered the minefield to assist seriously injured comrades.

His gallantry during this encounter where he continued to provide emer gency aid to other despite his own injuries earned him the George Medal. LCpl Hartley said: "I was medically discharged from the army due to post traumatic stress disorder brought on by what happened that day in Kajaki. There was no help available for me once I left the service, and we need more support for our troops returning from theatre with life-changing wounds. I’m pleased to be able to offer my services as Patron to The Forgotten Heroes, to help soldiers such as me get the support they both need and deserve."
